She continued her nursing career in the United States Air Force from 2006 to 2010. After separating from the USAF, Luz lived and worked as an NP/Nurse Manager in Sacramento California. Luz started her nursing career as a licensed vocational nurse in 1990, became a registered nurse in 1992, received her Bachelor's degree in Nursing in 2004 and completed her Master's degree in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner curriculum in 2006.
Luz's extensive experience brought her to starting her own practice as a primary care provider, providing much needed services to those who needs it the most.
Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), who are meeting the need for accessible, high quality, cost-effective healthcare in the U.S. They address patient acute, episodic and chronic conditions with emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention as foundational to achievement of optimal health for improved quality of life. Through rigorous educational preparedness, NPs attain certification and practice in a variety of specialty areas and environments to care for populations that encompass the continuum of the lifespan. The NP role integrates into existing as well as new and innovative delivery models of care that seek to remove barriers to access. NPs play a vital role in addressing complex patient needs through delivery of patient focused, individualized healthcare. As highly skilled providers in their scope of practice, NPs are an integral part of an individual’s healthcare team." AANP.org.
